We were thrilled to celebrate the arrival of Northstowe’s first new residents earlier this year, with many more due to arrive over the coming months, and over a quarter of homes already reserved.
Developer Bloor Homes will be building the first 92 homes in Phase 1, with houses ranging from two to five bedrooms.
It’s expected that 19 sets of residents will have moved in by July and they will have access to excellent public transport links, community buildings and a new school. By the end of 2017 all five house builders should be active on the first Phase of Northstowe.
During this time of ongoing development, planners are also funding a council community engagement officer to help new residents settle in to their homes and integrate with the nearby existing communities.

There is also a strong commitment to providing affordable housing in Northstowe, with over 2000 affordable homes planned amongst the first 5000 homes and 300 of these within Phase 1.
For Phase 2 it has been agreed with the Homes and Communities Agency that 50% of the housing provision will be affordable (10% will be affordable rent and 40% will be starter homes).
“The first residents moving in is a huge milestone for the new town. It will take many years for the town to be fully built but now is the time to look to the future and the exciting opportunities we have to create a vibrant community where people will want to live, work and go to school. Having excellent public transport links and a school in place so early in the new town is a great start and the very high interest in the new homes reported by the house builders shows that Northstowe is somewhere that people really want to be a part of. A total of over 600 homes already have planning permission at the town and four other housebuilders are either on site or nearly ready to get underway.”
