December community 'drop-in'

This week HCA and Gallagher attended an informal drop-in with the Council.  We talked to residents in Longstanton and the surrounding area who wanted to find out more about work that had been going on since phase one got planning permission in April 2014, and planned work for phase two.

There will be lots to see and do including:

• Photographs from the recent archaeological dig
• The development timeline and current status
• Ask the experts – if you have questions you would like answered

Community Garden Dig a success!

Organised by Rodney Scarle and hosted by Hilary Stroude of the Longstanton and District Heritage Society a small cohort of 14 volunteers excavated a total of five test-pits over the weekend as part of the Northstowe archaeological work that is going on.  Here is thier blog about it and info on the finds.

Archaeologists discover 'At the Meeting of the Ways' - August 2015

In May 2015 the Cambridge Archaeological Unit began excavations on the largest of the sites at Northstowe Phase One.  It was always expected that this would be the largest and most complex of the sites to be investigated and so it has proved.

Construction update - July 2015

There's currently a lot going on at Northstowe by all accounts so we thought we would capture that all here in one blog before the holidays begin for most people. 

The school ground is being prepared and 'earthworks' are taking place, and you may have seen the recent news about the 'turf turning' ceremony for the first building.  Here is a video construction update at the site of the new school by Andy Lawson at Gallagher.

Archaeology day - current community, meets old community at site of new community

B1050 - Advanced notice of temporary road closures

The works will include the realignment and improvement of B1050 (Station Road) between the roundabout at the eastern end of the Longstanton by-pass and the junction of the Park and Ride and the construction of a section of the onsite distributor roads. The works will be completed in early 2016.

Jason Gibson is the site Manager and he has sent a letter to residents living closest to the site compound and the B1050 works advising them of this work starting.
